What is CEREC?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. In a single visit, Dr. Caves can create high quality, tooth-like ceramic restorations to economically restore damaged teeth.
This breakthrough instrument saves the patient the time and money of multiple visits traditionally needed with these type of restorations. Only select dentists nationwide have incorporated this sophisticated technology into their office. Imagine the convenience of having a dental crown in just one dental visit! Contact our Columbus, Georgia dental office to learn more about CEREC, single visit crowns and other restorations that can be completed while you wait.
How does CEREC work?
CEREC uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument.
Dr. Caves uses a special camera to capture an optical impression of the damaged tooth. This precise image is digitally transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait.
Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes about one hour.
